The importance of running socks
What is the importance of having running socks?
Running socks can make a significant impact on your running experience. Running socks are designed to reduce blisters, wick moisture, and keep your feet more comfortable. They are also much more durable than a traditional athletic sock.
Anatomical Design
Most traditional running socks have anatomical design which conforms to the left and right structure of the foot providing an enhanced fit and reduced risk of blisters. Running socks have targeted compression in the arch to allow for more comfort and support. This can help prevent injuries such as Plantar Fasciitis.
Synthetic materials
The best running socks are made from materials like polyester, coolmax, drymax and merino wool. Try and avoid 100% cotton socks as when they get wet they will stay wet. Whether that's from sweat or stepping in a puddle, the moisture won't move away from the skin which can cause blisters.
Merino Wool
People think merino wool socks can make your feet sweat and cause chafing and rubbing. However merino wool regulates temperatures therefore keeping your feet cool in the summer and warm in those winter months. Merino wool socks are naturally odour resistant as they insulate when wet, keeping feet warm and dry.
Sock Length
Running socks come in different lengths, varying from no show tab to crew length socks. Throughout our brands, we stock no show tab, quarter length socks and crew socks.
